CEO Daniel Wos said they attended the Material Handling Exhibition in September and received ‘‘a great deal of interest from a range of visitors from across the Middle East region’’. ‘‘As a result, three major companies are looking to manufacture Polyworld’s material handling products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates,’’ Mr Wos said.

 ‘‘Sometimes you need to take a risk to travel overseas to exhibit your products to a new market, which involves high costs.’’ Mr Wos said as a result, Polyworld was looking to increase production at its Clontarf factory, which would boost employment opportunities for people in the local community.

 General Manager Gerard Rollo said their material handling products included trolleys – some made from recycled water tanks – to move products around in a variety of businesses, from hospitals to hospitality. ‘‘The concept of using recycled plastic means the products are lighter and more environmentally sustainable,’’ Mr Rollo said. ‘‘There are other companies doing it but our designs are unique and so there was a lot of interest.’’

 The Clontarf manufacturing and distribution business specialises in polyethylene (a type of plastic) products including water tanks, trolleys and swimming pools.

 The team at Polyworld worked closely with Rodney McFarlane, Logistics Co-ordinator for Group Linen Services at Queensland Health, to tailor make a linen trolley which met the needs of the Linen Services Department in Queensland Health. This product, affectionately named “Rod” is used exclusively by Queensland Health across its many facilities. It is manufactured at our factory in Clontarf on the Redcliffe Peninsula for distribution State wide.

 Polyworld has displayed this linen trolley, along with all its other material handling PolyTrolys, at trade shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane during the past year. In September 2011 we attended the Middle East Materials Handling Exhibition at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre and included this linen trolley in our display where it received a great deal of interest.

 In October 2011, the Queensland Minister for Industrial Relations, The Hon. Cameron Dick and Safety Ambassador, Mal Meninga announced the winners of the Queensland Safe Work Awards 2011 at the Safe Work and Return to work Awards ceremony during Safe Work Week .

Rodney McFarlane won the Award for Best individual contribution to workplace health and safety for the work he has done in designing and pioneering the implementation of this linen trolley across Group Linen Services in Queensland Health. Rodney will go on to represent Queensland in the national Safe Work Australia Awards and will compete against interstate winners from each state and territory.

Redcliffe business Polyworld is excited to announce the launch of its revolutionary range of Underground rain water tanks.

Founder and Managing Director Daniel Wos explained: “We are always on the look out for new products where there is a gap in the market and recently identified a need for underground rain water tanks that provided an economical alternative to the traditional concrete tanks.”

The result is the new range of slimline Underground rain water tanks. These tanks are designed and engineered for domestic and industrial applications and are available in three sizes – 2,500litre; 3,000litre and 5,400litre. Certified to meet Australian standards, the Underground tanks offer a cost effective and easy-to-install alternative rain water storage system.
